I can see a lot of potential.

As soon as I deployed it, I realised there were some things that I really wanted to change.
Here are some rough thoughts about how I changed it.

Initial design

The initial design for Whatsapp is a socket and response to messages.
This works fine for basic cases.

I added transcription and local media download.
But, the logic began to sprawl among many functions.

Git Commands

I still use git at the command line when I need some power.

Finding the commit

I use
git log -S 'SEARCH'
a lot.
I can search for a string through the entire history, across refactors and renames.

The log format

All the options are defined in git-log docs.
There are so many ways to output the log for humans or other tools.

If you find an output you want to save, you can add it into your
.gitconfig

Code Freeze

Your reactive code freeze is trying to tell you something; you should listen.

Latent risk

A reactive code freeze is a sign that you risk breaking something.
Or of causing damage at the worst possible time.

Many teams just shrug it off as the cost of continuous delivery ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just piling up changes ready for the green light is not helpful.
Worse still if the freeze extends for many days or weeks.

Bread

Working from home with a lovely kitchen means I have more time for baking.
After a lot of trial and error, I’ve managed to hone my ratio for sourdough.

This is based on the Country Bread recipe from Tartine.
The book goes into huge amount of detail about the process.
Still, it took me a while to find the right ratio to work with.

Starter

The starter is reasonably stable now.
I don’t feed it daily, but keep it going usually just as I want to bake.

Low-stakes changes

Being in a rut is annoying; feeling stuck in the rut is worse.
There are some tricks I use that I feel help me.

Being offline changes help me more.
If I go online, I’ll just procrastinate.

You can be as fancy as you like!
When I’m in a rut I find my clothing standard drops a bit.
Just switching to a shirt helps me feel a bit better.
